EXPERIENCE COUNTS
see how we innovate, how we create and grow below is a slice of our efforts... we are just getting started
During the past few years, we've been working on technology and novel new ideas that could revolutionize the way people interact with the world around them, and how to create a more protected, robustly secure
environment for people, business, and governments to interact. The unfortuante fact is this: the world is a dangerous place, and bad actors are constantly trying to scam or undermine people and businesses. It's
happened to me, to other memebers of our family, our friends, and to businesses we're closedly aligned with.
Combined with that need for stronger security, I've watched - from a fairly close seat, which being at Microsoft for 20+ years in emerging technology teams has afforded - how the most impactful technologies have taken
hold in the last twenty years, changing the way we live, operate, and engage. That close seat included a view, and participantion with, the inner workings of those emerging technologies, how the business drivers
worked, demand generation, and how to quickly adapt. I was part of the initial Windows NT development, responsible for performance analysis of its network stack and protocols, which was a great experience and offered a
wealth of learning.
I also watched Internet connectivity evolve through many stages, such as outside-the-organization-email go from something only large businesses had, to getting into the hands of consumers, to ubiquity. There was a
pattern and process, and that repeated for other technologies as well. For example, mobile phones as true computing devices, not just voice transmitters. I remember
seeing the first TV commercial with a web address - it was an HP commercial, and at the very end (almost a footnote) it showed HP.COM for just a moment at the end. I pointed and hollered; I knew it was the
beginning of an evolution that would not be stopped. There are others, like the shift to cloud computing, which seem obvious now. They weren't then, they weren't guaranteed, but the pattern was there.
In the past few years, I see that same pattern developing in a small handful of other technology areas, and I recognize it. Only this time, rather than watching from front-row seats, I'm moving invent and deliver on
these new technology paradigms, to define how and where it takes shape, how it comes into being, and create the framework to make it part of our daily and business lives.
Part of that deliver is getting patents to protect those innovations. I have two currently issued patents, covering inventions around blockchain and AI-based detection and posting, which form the basis of a collection
of innovations that I believe will shape the future of how we interact, and how technology protects us all, so we can thrive and grow.
Technology Books
During the course of my experience in technology, I've written a collection of books on various subjects, most centered around operating systems, protocols, software development, and enterprise deployment. I haven't
written a technology book in a few years - choosing instead to spend time creating and teaching online courses about technology - but the creativity of developing the structure and writing books is still a passion.
These days, though, I'm more passionate about fiction.
The list of technology books I've written, in chronological order, is the following:
• Inside Windows NT Infrastructures ( John Wiley & Sons, 1998 )
• Inside RRAS: Remote Access Solutions for Windows NT ( John Wiley & Sons, 1998 )
• MCSE Internet Information Server 4 for Dummies ( Dummies Press, 1999 )
• MCSE IIS 4 Ace It! ( John Wiley & Sons, 1999 )
• IIS 4 Administrator's Handbuck ( John Wiley & Sons, 1999 )
• Windows 2000 Quality of Service (QoS) ( Macmillan Technical Publishing, 1999 )
• Active Directory Services for Windows 2000 Technical Reference ( Microsoft Press, 2000 )
For more on those, check out my author page on Amazon.com.
Windows Programming Reference Series
In addition to writing technology books, I created the Windows Programming Reference Series, in collaboration with some good people at Microsoft Press. These reference sets ranged from four to six book sets, providing
programming reference for Windows developers. That series consisted of the following, in chronological order:
While technology books were interesting, my background and passion for writing revolves much more around fiction and stories. I have a collection of novels that I've written or started writing, with one released to the
world a few years back, titled Cloud Cover.
I fully enjoy writing (and reading) fiction and thrillers, urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and lots of other forms of creative writing. Currently, however, my attention is focused on software and business innovation, and
running Upheaval Corporation (our blockchain and AI technology company).
Business
We've started and maintained a handful of businesses, some of them in technology consulting, construction, content creation (online courses), and instructor work.
Our current focus is wholly directed to our software company, Upheaval Corporation, and its innovative blockchain platform called IronWeave. For more about Upheaval or IronWeave, check out our Upheaval Corporation / IronWeave website.
Board Work
Being active and engaged in our community has long been a priority for me, and our entire family. Education has also always been a priority, as I believe a good education is the Great Equalizer. As such, when we settled
into the community where we planned to raise our family, I was eager to get involved in ensuring we had the best, strongest, and most competitive school district around. I ran for the Lake Stevens School Board, and
have been on the board for nearly 15 years.
While on the School Board, I was active in state-level and national advocacy. I was an elected member of the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA), a governance board that oversees and advocates for
school board members in Washington state. I was also a member of the Federal Relations Network, a school board advocacy group that lobbied Congress to ensure education is, and continues to be, a priority in the United
States.
In addition to being on the board in Lake Stevens, I served on the Everett Community College Foundation Board for a few years, its mission being to provide scholarships and opportunities for students in our region to
attend college. A also served on the board of the Historic Everett Theatre, a beautiful and storied performing arts theater in downtown Everett, Washington
Board work is a great way to provide input, guidance, and effort to help make our world a better place, and I've made great friends and, I believe, created a better education system for our students, and for students
across all of our state and our nation.
Community
There's nothing quite as rewarding as seeing kids learn, grow, and compete in areas they're passionate about. The Iseminger family has been active in both playing youth sports, and coaching.
We've coached our children's soccer teams from about first grade onward, as long as they cared to play. We've also coached their youth volleyball teams, their youth basketball team, and always, rooted them on even when
we're not coaching. They continue to see success, playing competitively in high school, in club sports, being fortunate enough to see state and national competitions where they fared extremely well.
All of which is great community engagement, good for everyone, and in the end, builds the character of all the teammates and others who put their time into helping kids (and parents) grow, connect, thrive, and use their
experiences to be successful in all sorts of other areas in their lives. It's been its own reward, and we feel that everyone in our extended community - us espeically - has benefited from the effort and involvement.
Education
Our undergraduate degrees are from the University of Washington, where we met some of the best lifelong friends we could hope to have. We're also fans of Boise State University, fans of Central
Washington University, and overall are strong advocates for what education does for everyone - at every level.
